McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI): The purpose of the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI) is to provide minorities- known as MLI Future Leaders - a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network, and instilling the values of John McLendon: Integrity, Education, Leadership, and Mentorship. Coaches participating in the initiative are Ambassadors of the program and will serve as mentors to the Future Leaders on their campuses. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree to apply.

This position will gain valuable experience across a variety of units within WSU Athletics, with a focus on student-athlete experience, entrepreneurship, creative services, and name, image, and likeness. The Strategic Initiatives Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Student-Athlete Innovation, under the Cougar Pursuit program, with regular interaction with the Director of Athletics, compliance, and creative services.

Duration: August 2022 - July 2023

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating personal branding, entrepreneurship, and name, image, and likeness education.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Communications, Marketing, Athletics Development, and Creative Services to provide storytelling strategies of student-athlete experiences.
  • Serve as a producer and project manager for student-athlete experience storytelling.
  • Establish proactive creative content ideas focused on student-athlete experiences.
  • Participate in professional development programming within the athletic department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must adhere to all Washington State University,  PAC12 & NCAA rules and regulations.
