External Operations Associate job in East Lansing, MI

McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI): The purpose of the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI) is to provide minorities- known as MLI Future Leaders - a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network, and instilling the values of John McLendon: Integrity, Education, Leadership, and Mentorship. Coaches participating in the initiative are Ambassadors of the program and will serve as mentors to the Future Leaders on their campuses. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree to apply.

The External Operations Associate with Michigan State University will participate in a rotational schedule that allows the Future Leader to learn core competencies in ticket sales, athletic administration, service & retention, game presentation, and digital marketing. This dynamic individual will contribute to each department’s mission of driving revenue and engaging with the Spartan fan base in innovative ways. This position requires a team centric mindset and the ability to collaborate with key internal departments.

Duration: August 2022 - May 2023

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

• Provide a world-class customer experience to all Spartan fans through relationship-based service skills and sharing information on how individuals can support Spartan Athletics
• Responsible for revenue goals including ticket sales, renewals, and donations
• Facilitate fan experiences and special moments during events and home games that create memories that last a lifetime
• Create game themes and other innovative promotions to increase Spartan student attendance and engage partners across campus
• Help write scripts and manage on-field/court experiences including mascot, cheer, and band
• Assist with special event planning including game day fan zones, season ticket holder experiences, and donor events
• Leverage the power of marketing automation, email marketing, and paid advertising to drive revenue for the department through digital selling
• Measure performance and utilize data to better understand how to connect with our fanbase
