McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI): The purpose of the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI) is to provide minorities- known as MLI Future Leaders - a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network, and instilling the values of John McLendon: Integrity, Education, Leadership, and Mentorship. Coaches participating in the initiative are Ambassadors of the program and will serve as mentors to the Future Leaders on their campuses. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree to apply.

This position provides leadership development, personal development, and academic services for student-athletes through the Parker Academic Resource Center (PARC) in the Athletic Department.  The position reports to the Associate Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Support Services.  

Duration: August 2022 - July 2023

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Develop and implement leadership and personal development programming.
  • Provide measurable outcomes and information to coaches and admin regarding leadership initiatives.
  • Identifying community service initiatives, tracking participation and coordinating logistics for student-athlete participation
  • Liasion to SAAC and help SAAC deliver on its priorities
  • Monitor academic progress of student-athletes in 2-3 women’s sports programs

  • Assist with all aspects of the tutoring program, including hiring tutors.

  • Assist with new student-athlete orientation and Summer Bridge programming

  • Serving as liaison with campus academic support services and other campus departments

Must adhere to all Creighton University, Big East, and NCAA rules and regulations.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, counseling, communication, sport management/administration, or a related degree program
  • Effective and flexible communication skills
  • Masters's degree preferred
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Strong public relations, organizational, and program management skills.

Stipend: $30,000
