McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI): The purpose of the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI) is to provide minorities- known as MLI Future Leaders - a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network, and instilling the values of John McLendon: Integrity, Education, Leadership, and Mentorship. Coaches participating in the initiative are Ambassadors of the program and will serve as mentors to the Future Leaders on their campuses. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree to apply.

The University of Chicago Athletic Administration's Future Leader will have the opportunity to engage with student-athletes, coaches, athletic administrators, and other campus partners in a wide variety of events, activities, and projects for the athletic department.  They will have the opportunity to contribute to the organization's success while receiving a real time learning experience.  

Duration: August 2022 - July 2023

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Primary responsibilities in coordinating and managing special events for the programs.
    • Including, but not limited to, the Midway Classic Tournament and associated community endeavors; alumni events; team activities; and community service projects.  
    • This can include extensive work in promotions, communications, marketing, and social media.

Must adhere to all University of Chicago, University Athletic Association & NCAA rules and regulations.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Effective and flexible communication skills

Stipend: $30,000
