McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI): The purpose of the McLendon Minority Leadership Initiative (MLI) is to provide minorities- known as MLI Future Leaders - a jump-start to their careers through practical experiences, opportunities to build their network, and instilling the values of John McLendon: Integrity, Education, Leadership, and Mentorship. Coaches participating in the initiative are Ambassadors of the program and will serve as mentors to the Future Leaders on their campuses. Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree to apply.

Duration: August 2022 - July 2023

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Assist in the planning and participating in the Diversity Integration Group (D.I.G.)
  • Assist with editing and updating the D.I.G. Action Plan
  • Collaborate with campus constituents including the Office of Academic Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI)
  • Plan, contribute and participate in D.I.G. and ADEI events
  • Support with planning and leading meetings for the Student-Athlete Diversity and Inclusion Committee
  • Maintain all diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts

Gender Equity

  • Assist in researching common practices in Gender Equity 
  • Assist in researching and implementing Title IX
  • Assist in maintaining departmental Gender Equity spreadsheet
  • Collaborate with campus constituents and outside consultants on gender equity
  • Plan, contribute, and participate in Title IX and Gender Equity Events
  • Additional duties as assigned

Must adhere to all Northern Illinois University, MAC & NCAA rules and regulations.
