The Supplier Development Engineer will enhance the process of a supplier for a product to meet the performance metrics outlined for delivery, quality and service.

The client is a machine shop that makes large aluminum parts that are friction welded together. The Supplier Development Engineer will spend 3-4 days a week at that facility
Manage daily tracking of upcoming deliveries and component part builds
Qualify new components, support issues with current production, develop new suppliers to reduce cost, increase capacity and audit suppliers to ensure process conformance
Ensure IATF/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements are met
Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
Work with engineers to define process parameters
Continuous improvement activities – provide lean or six sigma training to suppliers
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
